Look Alikes/Inspiration Chapter

Inspiration: If there were ever a character in the world of Final Fantasy that was so intriguing but never really got that much face time - it's Gau. What artist wouldn't love having a crazy man beast in their repetoir of characters?! When I first started designing Secant, I really had a Gau-like character in my mind... but moreso by MIND than looks, look below for his LOOKS inspiration!
Inspiration: Aaaand here's where you see I'm totally in love with Secret of Mana 3! Secant IS Kevin! I really, really, really love Kevin... hahaha, and I didn't cheese out and just copied his outfit, but I did keep the things I loved most about it - poofy pants and that skullcap! Secant being the prince of the Canine Beastmen has NOTHING to do with Kevin's story, though, in case you were wondering!
Inspiration: Where else could I get a boyish charm that I desperately needed for Pin's outfit? His school-boy uniform was hard to picture in my head... but then I was looking at a Final Fantasy IX art book... Zidane. Zidane! I love his outfit... it spawned out the craziest and girliest design for my boy-toy character Pin. Except for the monkey tail and sassy attitude, Pin's taken a lot from Zidane.
Look-alike: While going through varius gaming art galleries I landed on Luc... something looked familiar, dreadfully familiar... bowl-haircut, green sash-like outfit... tiara. OHGOD PIN! I love Luc, and I've never actually seen him in action in Suikoden II, but there it is. Maybe it's subliminal messaging telling me I should play this game! Hehe!
Look-alike: Playing through Chrono Cross I tend to notice a lot of similarties in my characters, and this isn't going ignored. The futzy painter Van, except in attitude, was very similar to Pin! Glasses and a dress-like uniform just stuck in my head. Hmm, maybe I need to make Pin a bit more pessimistic! Hehehehe! More characters to come! |
